Biography

Characterised as “Golden-Toned” Soprano  (Classical Source) and described by ‘Der Standart’ as, “in addition to her visual charm… downy-soft and snowflake-pure soprano”, Ilona Revolskaya “manages to combine acting with supple vocals, dynamically balanced and rich in nuances” (Wiener Zeitung).

Revolskaya’s recent professional highlights include greatly lauded performances at the Landestheater Linz, where she is an Ensemble Member, as Armida (Rinaldo), Musetta (La Bohème), and Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), a critically-acclaimed role for which she was nominated for Austrian Theater Prize 2022 as Best Female Main Role; ‘Salzburger Nachrichten’ described her role performance as “bell-like blossoming lyrical soprano, colourful, noble in timbre, and perfectly shaped, supple and soft.” She has also recently sung Giulietta and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) at Mainfranken Theater Würzburg, and appeared at the Theater an der Wien as Walter (La Wally).

Born in Stavropolsky Krai, Russia, Revolskaya studied vocal performance at the Moscow Conservatory, and completed the Opera Program at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She has professionally debuted at Ekaterinburg’s Theatre of Musical Comedy, and was a young soloist at Theater an der Wien, where she sang an array of roles, including Cunegonde (Candide), and Olympia (Les contes d’Hoffmann).

Currently, in addition to a busy schedule of Opera productions, Revolskaya appears extensively in concerts and recitals internationally. Recent highlights include Bel Canto Gala events in Residenz Würzburg and Isarphilharmonie München, New Year Concerts with Tonküstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, as well as appearing at the Allegro Vivo Festival.

Revolskaya is featured on a CD of ‘Peter Schmoll’ by Karl Maria von Weber, in a production by Theater an der Wien and the Orchestra of Austrian Radio and Television, as well as the DVD releases of ‘La Wally’ and ‘Platée’.
